He was a retired Veteran of US Navy and a member of Coffey's Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a native of Newport, NH, and a resident of Eli, KY, at the time of his death. His wife, Janet Fowler Cheney, survives. He leaves nineteen direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in Sunapee, NH.

Harley Donald Cheney, 81, of Eli Community of Russell County, died Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Russell County Hospital ER, Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral service for Harley Cheney will be 4pmCT, Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Roger Garner officiating. Visitation will be 2pm-4pmCT, Sunday, at the funeral home.. Interment in the Eastman Cemetery in Sunapee, New Hampshire.



Harley Donald Cheney, 81, Russell County, KY (1935-2017)

He was born October 22, 1935 in Newport, New Hampshire. He was the son of the late David & Ethel Little Cheney. He died Friday, March 24, 2017, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 81 years, five months and two days.

He was a retired Veteran of US Navy and a member of Coffey's Chapel United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Elva Palmer.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Janet Fowler Cheney, Russell Springs, KY

  • Four daughters: Julie Cheney, New Hampshire; Linda Gould, Dayton, FL; Donna (Peter) Mahair, New Hampshire; Shery (Birar) Freak, New Hampshire

  • Six grandchildren

  • Nine great grandchildren

  • One sister: Betty Ansart, NH

  • Two brothers: Chester Cheney, Atlanta, GA; and George Cheney, South Carolina
