LWC Women's Basketball faces Martin Methodist in 1st Round No. 1-seeded Lindsey Wilson seeded women's basketball faces eighth-seeded Martin Methodist in First Round of the NAIA National Championships Click on headline for complete story By Anthony Latessa COLUMBIA, KY (Tue 14 Mar 2017) - The No. 1-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team opens its 2017 NAIA National Championship run against eight-seeded Martin Methodist (TN) on Wednesday at 9:30amCT at Rimrock Auto Arena, Metrapark, 308 6th Ave N, Billings, MT. The Blue Raiders are making their third-straight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament and this is their 12th appearance all-time. Lindsey Wilson holds a record of 5-11 in the national tournament. Last time out for the Blue Raiders, they lost to Shawnee State (Ohio) in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship Game, 71-65. Kayla Styles recorded her 16th double-double of the season scoring a game-high 25 points and grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds. Chanel Roberts and Malerie Martin both finished in double figures with 11 and 10, respectively. Lindsey Wilson enters the tournament with a record of 30-2 and the 30 wins for the Blue Raiders set a new program record for wins in a season. Styles leads the team in scoring averaging 17.2 points per game and rebounding with 11 rebounds per game. Roberts is averaging 11 points per game on the season. Martin Methodist is 21-10 on the season and they earned an at-large bid into the tournament. The RedHawks lost to Faulkner (AL) in the quarterfinals of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament. Martin Methodist is led by Brooklyn Blanchard and Teairra Luckett as they have scored 13.5 and 12.3 points per game, respectively. Kyoko Wade is averaging a double-double on the season averaging 11.8 points per game and a team-high 12.8 rebounds per game. Wade is second in the NAIA in rebounds per game Lindsey Wilson defeated Martin Methodist 66-55 on November 16 in Pulaski, TN. Styles and Teanna Curry each scored 15 points.
