Vernon Herron, 80, Casey County, KY (1936-2017)

He was an Army veteran and worked for Taylor County RECC for over 42 years. He was a Shriner and member of Masonic Lodge # 722. Vernon was an EMT and on the board of Casey County Ambulance Service. He loved UK basketball. He was the son of the late Harlan & Ella Herron. His wife of 57 years, Beatrice Herron, survives. He leaves eight direct living descendants.

Vernon Herron of Liberty, KY passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was 80 years old.

Funeral services are at 10amCT/11amET, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY. Burial will follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Honor Guard. Visitation is Tuesday after 4pmCT/5pmET, at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 6pmCT/7pmET.



Pallbearers are Cameron McFarland, Bobby McFarland, Keaton McFarland, Cody Morgan, Randy Meeks, and Tony Luttrell.

Vernon Herron, 80, Casey County, KY (1936-2017)

Born August 20, 1936 in Jefferson County, KY, he was the son of the late Harlan & Ella Herron. He died Saturday, March 11, 2017, in Danville, Boyle County, KY, at the age of 80 years, six months, and 19 days.

He was an Army veteran and worked for Taylor County RECC for over 42 years. He was a Shriner and member of Masonic Lodge # 722. Vernon was an EMT and on the board of Casey County Ambulance Service. He loved UK basketball.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Beatrice Herron, whom he married January 7, 1960, and the following:
  • Four daughters: Jan Mills of Liberty, KY; Cindy (and Kenny) Steindel of Mt Washington, KY; Tonya (and Randy) Meeks of Liberty, KY; and Becky (and Bob) McFarland of Mt. Washington, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Cameron, Dustin, Heather, and Keaton

  • A brother: Mervin Herron of Louisville, KY

  • And sister: Catherine Hicks of Bardstown, KY
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Andy "Buck", Ottis, Raymond "Butchie", and Joseph Herron; and three sisters, Marcella Fischer, Anna Terry and Lavonna Burke.
