Grover C. Johnson Jr., 94, Russell County, KY (1922-2017)

He was a native of Jamestown, KY, a resident of the city at the time of his death, and his final resting place will be in the city of his birth. He was the widower of Norine L. Johnson. He was the last living son of the children of the late Earline Pruett Johnson & Grover Cleveland Johnson, Sr. With his passing, one sibling, a sister, Nova Jean Plummer, survives in a family of 12 brothers and sisters. He leaves 22 direct living descendants.

Grover C. Johnson, Jr, 94, of Jamestown, KY passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY.

Funeral services for Grover C. Johnson, Jr, will be at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY at 11amCT, Friday, March 10, 2017, with Bro. Ed Partin and Bro. Lindsey Cornett officiating. Friends may visit on Thursday, March 9, 2017, after 5pmCT, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jamestown Cemetery, 201 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY.

Grover was born in Jamestown, Russell County, KY on September 30, 1922. He was a son of the late Earline (Pruett) and Grover Cleveland Johnson, Sr. He died Sunday, March 5, 2017, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 94 years, five months, and five days.

He is survived by:

  • Two sons: Eddie Johnson, (Marvin Kellar) of Findlay, OH; and Joel (Rosemary) Johnson, of Jamestown, KY

  • Daughter: Kay (Royce) Harris, of Russell Springs, KY

  • Daughter-in-law Peggy Johnson, of Russell Springs, KY

  • Sister: Nova Jean Plummer, of Louisville, KY

  • Eight grandchildren

  • Eight great grandchildren

  • Three great great grandchildren

    He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Norine L. Johnson, son Grover T. Johnson; six brothers, Edgar, Connelly, Hugh Frank, Glen, Tate, and Bert Johnson, and four sisters, Elva Slaten, Willa Coe, Bertrina Cochran and Louise Clayton.
