NWS, Louisville, KY: Feb 2017 weather - benign and pleasant

From National Weather Service (NWS), Louisville, KY

Most of February 2017 was benign with pleasant temperatures and almost no snow.

Historic warmth bathed the region beginning on the 17th and culminating on the 24th. Louisville rose into the lower 80s on the 24th, which was the first time in recorded history that the city had broken the 80 mark in February (dating back to 1871). Louisville set a new all-time high for the month of February, and Frankfort tied theirs. A cold front that evening brought and end to the warmth and sparked storms with gusty winds and small hail.

After a couple of cool days we warmed back up to end the month. A powerful cold front approached from the northwest on the 28th and sparked storms with small hail and locally heavy rain that morning. Additional storms approached that night but waited until March to enter the NWS Louisville area of responsibility.
