Virginia Sue (Hutchison) Scott, 72, Louisville, KY (1944-2017)

She was born on April 9, 1944 in Columbia, Adair County, KY, the youngest of nine children to John W. and Fannie Bett (Brockman) Hutchison. She died Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the age of 72 years, nine months, and 25 days.

Sue grew up on the family farm in Columbia, KY and graduated from Adair County High School in 1962. She retired from General Electric's Appliance Park in Louisville in 2000. Sue was a devoted mother to her three sons and a doting grandmother to her five grandchildren all of whom loved her deeply.

Sue loved digging her hands in the dirt to tend the beautiful flowers in her garden. She enjoyed her many friends and trips she and her great friend John Kennedy had over their years together. From playing any kind of card or board game to just sitting and talking over coffee or iced tea, Sue's peace and love grew as her family and circle of friends continued to grow. Even as she began to succumb to the horrible effects of dementia later in life, she managed loving relationships with the fantastic staff at Nazareth Home in Louisville. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to everyone at Nazareth Home who comforted and cared for Sue with dignity and grace through the very end.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents John W. and Fannie Bett (Brockman) Hutchison; sisters Christeen Hutchison, Ruby Worthington, and Ruth Ann Pederson; and Brothers Bobby and Billy Hutchison.

Sue is survived by:
  • Her three sons: Steve (Jane) Draper of Lexington, KY; Jeff (Robin Fisher) Draper of Louisville, KY; and Mike (Tina) Draper of Louisville, KY

  • Her grandchildren: Taylor Starr (Bryan), Logan Draper, Shelbi Shutt (Jordan), Dakota Draper, and Addyson Draper

  • Her great-granddaughter: Willow Brave Starr

  • Many nieces and nephews

  • Her sisters: Maxine McGruder of Shepherdsville, KY; Jewell Sayre of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Brother: Eddie (Ruth) Hutchison of Columbia, KY

  • Her great friend: John Kennedy who currently resides in Columbia, KY
Sue often spoke of growing up on the farm in Columbia and talked of the many lessons and escapades that came her way. She adored and also had many loving stories of her mother Fannie Bett whose memories and pictures comforted her tremendously in the last years of her life. She often talked about coming home some day and now she has.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Nazareth Home, 2000 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY 40205 or by visiting; https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/1414764.
