Mr. Edward Lee (Eddie) Abell, Adair Co., Ky (1953-2017)

He was a native of Adair County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Sylvia Rowena Eastridge Abell & Johnnie Lee Abell. His wife, Barbara Abell, survives. He professed faith in Christ and was baptized in 2008, and was a member of, Christie Chapel United Methodist Church in Knifley, KY.

Mr. Edward Lee "Eddie" Abell of Eastridge Cemetery Road in Adair County crossed over to heaven on January 27, 2017.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Abell will be conducted on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 10amCT/11amET in the Christie Chapel United Methodist Church, 8068 Elkhorn Rd, Knifley, KY. Bro. Steve Janes will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastridge Cemetery, Columbia, KY. The family will receive friends 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY, and on Wednesday, February 1, after 8amCT/9amET, at the church.

He worn March 16, 1953 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY to Sylvia Rowena Eastridge Abell & Johnnie Lee Abell. He died Friday, January 27, 2017, at the age of 63 years, 10 months, and 11 days of age.

Raised and loved from age ten by his mother and dad, Sylvia Rowena Sween and Clarence Sween, in Denver, Colorado, he became a tried but true fan of the Denver Broncos NFL team.

After returning to Kentucky in the early 1970's, he married Barbara Humphress on June 13, 1975. He professed faith in Christ and was baptized in 2008, and was a member of, Christie Chapel United Methodist Church in Knifley, KY.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Abell, and the following:

  • Two daughters: Kristi (Sean) Kelly of Lake Orion, MI, and Jennifer (Brandon) Hovious of Knifley, KY

  • One son: Edward L. (Samantha) Abell of Altus, OK

  • Five grandchildren: Kaitlynn and Devin Kelly, Logan Perry, Madison and Charlotte Abell

  • Three chosen grandchildren: Jonathan Lee, Hayden, and Siya

  • One sister: Cathy Kingdollar of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two brothers: John (Renee) Abell of Columbia, KY; and Ernie Abell of Norfolk, VA

  • And numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends
He was preceded in death by his dad, Clarence Sween; his mother, Rowena Sween; and a brother, Greg Abell.
