COF: Celebrating Highlands poet's birthday in Knifley Highlands

Today, January 25, 2017, the birthday of Robert Burns, is traditionally observed by Knifley's Great Thinkers.
By *The COF

The birthday of Scotland's most famous poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796), has become an occasion for Scots all over the world to gather together in his honor.

"Hail Great Chieftan o' the Puddin-race!"

We have our Macsween's Haggis soakin' in a fine single malt and Miz Emily has gathered the fixin's for Cock-a-Leeky soup, neeps and tatties. Now iffen we just had a piper. By the time we end the evening with "Auld Lang Syne' we'll have hoisted a feast thet would rival any in the highlands.

*The COF - for any new readers, "The COF" is the acronym/Pen Name for "The Crusty Old Fool," who is crusty and curmudgeonly in this side of his literary endeavor, but - no fool. He delivers humor with a depth of knowledge belying the personna of The COF - a true Adair County literary treasure. - EW
