Mrs. Thelma Nora Roy, 88, Adair County, KY (1928-2016)

Mrs. Roy was a member of the West 80 Church of God in Russell Springs, KY and was a homemaker. She was the matriarch of a widely respected East Adair County, KY family. She was the daughter of the late Austin and Frieda Brickler Wilson and the widow of James O. Roy. She leaves 13 direct living descendants.

Thelma Nora Roy, 88 of Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 7:25amCT, at the Signature Health Care at Summit Manor in Columbia, KY.

Funeral service will be Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Bro. Carli Riggs and Bro. Scott Proctor will be the officiating clergy officiating. Interment in Adair County at the Freedom Cemetery, 576 Freedom Church Road, Russell Springs, KY. The family request visitation after 3pmCT, Wednesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Pallbearers: Kenneth Bryant, Chris Bryant, Edwin Bryant, Steve Roy, and Seth Murray.

Mrs. Thelma Nora Roy, 88, Adair County, KY (1928-2016)

She was born September 13, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Austin and Frieda Brickler Wilson. She died Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at the age of 88, three months, and seven days.

She was preceded in death by her husband James O. Roy in 1993 by a son, Danny Ray Roy in 1958 and also preceded in death by a grandson, Davie Roy in 2003

Survived by:
  • One son: David Roy and wife: Anita of Russell Springs, KY

  • Two daughters: Diane Foster and husband Howard of Columbia, KY; Kathy Pickens and husband Rick of of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: James Wilson of Richwood, KY and Vernon Wilson of Covington, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Lesley Keith Christy Burton, Seth Murray, Bethany Davis

  • Six great grandchildren

  • and several nieces and nephews
