Hanging of the Greens at RS Christian Sun 27 Nov 2016

By Lou Ann Gore Flanagan

Russell Springs Christian Church, 315 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, had its first Hanging of the Greens service at 6:30pmCT, Sunday night, November 27, 2016.

The Hanging of the Greens is a traditional program to mark the beginning of the Advent and Christmas seasons and serves as a time to prepare the church for the celebration of Christ's birth.

Music for the service was provided by the Russell County High School Brass Quintet, Erwin Lepiarczyk, the Campbellsville University String Quartet, and Dr. Chad Floyd, also of Campbellsville University, all under the direction of Yvonne Emerson.

The community is invited to enjoy an evening preparing for the Christ child, learning the meanings behind our Christmas traditions, and enjoying great music. The church served refreshments following the program. - Lou Ann Gore Flanagan
