Story behind the naming of Columbia Rotary Club Board Room

By Ellen Zornes

The Columbia Rotary Club has partnered with Lindsey Wilson College throughout the years and last Monday, November 14, 2016, at their regular meeting, the partnership was made official.

The former Boardroom in Cranmer Dining Center was renamed the Columbia Rotary Club Room.

The naming was made because of the many years of scholarship donations made to LWC by the Rotary Club totaling over $100,000. In addition the Rotary Club paid for some needed accessories for the room, including a ceiling power screen and a ceiling mounted multimedia projector, both of which made meetings and trainings much easier.

The idea was the brainchild of Rotary treasurer and LWC Director of Library Sciences, Phil Hanna. The Rotary Club agreed and the journey began, culminating in the room naming with Kevin Thompson, Vice President for Development, leading the ceremony.

Joining the celebration were two LWC scholarship recipients, Beth Owens and Katie McGaha.

Others in attendance were JD Zornes, George Kolbenschalg, Beth Owens, Katie McGaha, Ellen Zornes, Hunter Durham, Kaye Bowman, Dawson Cunningham, Jerry Holt, Derrick Kisita, Ted Caldwell, Dick Fitzpatrick, Phil Hanna, and Linda Fitzpatrick.
