MARIETTA, GA (Sat 29 Oct 2016) - A 16-kill performance from Grace Blomstedt helped lead the fifth-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Life (GA) for the second day in a row on Saturday afternoon at The Eagles' Nest.

The victory is the 22nd three-set sweep for the Blue Raiders (26-1, 11-1 Mid-South Conference) this season and 14th-consecutive victory. Life drops to 18-11 overall and 5-9 in MSC play with the loss.

Just hours after leading the team in kills in last night's victory over Life, Blomstedt was at it again on Saturday pouring in 16 kills on 30 swings with just a single error. The 16 kills match a career high for the sophomore and are tied for the most kills in a single match by a Blue Raider this year, also achieved by Blomstedt.

The Blue Raiders hit just .221 in the victory with 18 errors, but were able to hold the Running Eagles to a .024 mark for the match. In the six sets played between these two squads in two days, Life hit above .100 in just one set, doing so at a .103 mark, while being held to negative numbers twice.

Lindsey Wilson lacked its usual crispness in the opening set and Life took advantage by keeping things close throughout, playing to a 12-12 tie early. Lindsey Wilson struggled to get the block down, recording just one in the opening set, to go along with a slew of errors. LWC committed six attacking errors, two blocking errors, one service error and one set error in the opening frame alone.

Life kept the Blue Raider lead down to one as late as 17-16, but LWC put together three straight to make it 20-16. From there LWC kept the Running Eagles at bay and took the first set 25-19.

Once again Life came ready to play in set two and traded punches to an early 5-5 tie. But a pivotal 6-1 run made it an 11-6 lead in favor of the Blue Raiders. That separation helped Lindsey Wilson build a 19-13 lead and eventually closed things out on a 6-2 run to take the set 25-15. LWC once again went to Blomstedt who racked up 11 kills through the first two sets alone and assisted on all three blocks in the second set for the Blue Raiders.

Lindsey Wilson appeared to have had enough of the Running Eagles as the Blue Raiders cranked it into high gear to start the third to the tune of a 12-1 run with six kills and a pair of blocks. But once more a stingy Life team refused to go away quietly and clawed the lead down to four points at 13-9 and again at 18-14.

A 6-1 run capped off by a Blomstedt solo block brought up match point, and three points later Blomstedt finished off the Running Eagles with a kill for the 25-17 set-three victory.

Lindsey Wilson hit their lowest output of the match in set three at .171 with another six errors, but held Life to a -.043 attacking percentage.

Carolynne Silva, Eileen Acuna and Lauren Streets each tallied seven kills in the win as Makenzie Montano had 37 assists and Caitlyn Tino posted a match-high 26 digs.

Life was led by Sam Diebold with seven kills and Megan Lundgreen with 18 digs.
