LWC cyclist Adrian Sanders finishes as national RU in Dual Slalom

SNOWSHOE MOUNTAIN, WV - Adrian Sanders finished as the national runner-up in the women's dual slalom event during the final day of competition at the USA Collegiate Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships on Sunday, October 23, 2016.

She finished second out of 39 competitors to earn silver medal honors, falling to only national champion Veronica Laughton of Lees-McRae (NC).



It marks the second-straight season Adrian Sanders has recorded a second-place finish at the national championships. Teammate Ashton Raum collected bronze medal honors with her third-place finish in the event, while Heather Collman also finished in the top 10 coming in with her sixth-place finish.

Brianna Delamare and Paige Sanders also competed in the women's dual slalom, finishing in 14th and 32nd place, respectively.

In the men's dual slalom, Dustin Hammond missed out on medaling by one spot as he finished in fourth place. Jake Smith recorded his second top-10 finish of the weekend as he took ninth in the event, followed immediately by teammate Corey Ross in 10th place.

JD Swanguen captured 20th place, Alex Tucker finished 22nd and Wyatt Myers took 45th in the event.

The Blue Raiders also competed in the team relay event on Sunday, finishing as 15th place as a team.

As a team, Lindsey Wilson finished sixth in the team omnium standings with 423 points, which adds together points earned by riders throughout the weekend based on their finishes in each event. Brevard (NC) took home the team title with 725 points. Adrian Sanders was the top Blue Raider in the individual omnium standings as she finished seventh in the women's standings. Myers took 11th in the men's omnium individual standings.
