MCHS hosts 4th College Application Day By Eric Sexton College & Career Readiness Counselor, Metcalfe County High School On Friday, October 14th, 2016 Metcalfe County High School hosted its 4th annual college application day for high school seniors. The day is set aside specifically for seniors to begin, review or complete college applications. Eric Sexton, College & Career Readiness Counselor, organized the event hosting several representatives from local college and technical schools. Representatives from SKYCTC, Western KY University (Main and Glasgow Campus) & Lindsey Wilson College were on hand to assist students. With changes to the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application, the event added a FAFSA completion assistance piece sponsored largely by KHEAA. While students and families completed applications they could also receive assistance with their FAFSA. Sexton, along with KHEAA representative Audrey Price, GEAR-UP advisor, Deena Hurt and WKU-Glasgow representative, Lauren Swayne took FAFSA's to the field at football homecoming to educate, inform and assist with all things pertaining to student financial aid. In total seniors, parents and alumni completed 22 FAFSA's and over 30 college applications. College application assistance will continue throughout October and November. For more information on this or how your child can become college or career ready feel free contact Mr. Sexton at Metcalfe County High School, check out his teacher website or follow him on Twitter at Metcalfe_CCC. Sexton is employed by GRREC (Green River Regional Education Cooperative) through the Race to the Top, KidFRIENDLy grant. This story was posted on 2016-10-21 09:16:58
