Myrtle Blakey, 88, Russell Co., KY/Adair native (1928-2016)

She was the daughter of the late Ezra & Nellie (Campbell) Loy of Adair County, KY. She was a homemaker, and the matriarch of a large, respected South Central Kentucky family. Her husband, Bro. Vernon Blakey, survives. She leaves two direct living descendants.

Myrtle Blakey, 88, of Russell Springs, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY.

Funeral service for Myrtle Blakey will be 2pmCT, Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Jerry Smith officiating. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Saturday, October 22, 2016, and 11am-2pmCT, Sunday. Interment will be in the Blakey Cemetery. Special music will be rendered by Regina Antle, LaDena McGowan.

She was born May 31, 1928 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Ezra & Nellie (Campbell) Loy. She died Wednesday, October 19, 2016, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 88 years, She was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death a brother, Edwin Loy; and a sister, Louise Sullivan

Survivors include the following:
  • Her husband: Bro. Vernon Blakey, Russell Springs, KY
  • >
  • Two children: Judy Baldock and her husband, Lynn, and Mark Blakey, all of Russell Springs, KY

  • One sister: Ineze Mills, Campbellsville, KY
