LW Football holds at No. 7 in NAIA Coaches' Poll By Charles Balcom, LWC COLUMBIA, KY (Mon 3 Oct 2016) - For the fourth-straight week, the Lindsey Wilson football team is ranked No. 7 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Monday. Lindsey Wilson received 262 total voting points from the panel of national raters and is one of just six undefeated teams mentioned in the poll. The hold in the rankings comes two days after the Blue Raiders defeated Union (KY) 53-17 on Homecoming Saturday at Blue Raider Stadium. Lindsey Wilson outscored the Bulldogs 26-0 in the second half en route to the win. The 6-0 start matches the best start in program history for the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson set program records in rushing yards (410) and total offensive yards (657). Jalen Sublett set new program records for single-game rushing yards (194) and longest run (80). Blake Ingleton added 148 yards on the ground, just the second time in program history Lindsey Wilson has had multiple 100-yard rushers in a game. Defending national champion Marian (IN) maintains the No. 1 ranking yet again, receiving 340 voting points and all 15 first-place votes. The Knights defeated former No. 2-ranked St. Francis (IN) last week. Baker (KS) moves into the No. 2 spot with 327 points followed Doane (Neb.) with 305. Fellow Mid-South Conference West Division member Reinhardt (GA) is No. 4 followed by St. Francis. Bethel (TN) also appears in the poll from the MSC West, coming in at No. 19. Faulkner (AL) is receiving votes. This story was posted on 2016-10-04 06:59:04
