Robert (Bob) Stivers, Jr., 84, Adair Co./Henry Co., KY native (1932-2016)

He was retired from the Kentucky State Police as Sgt. on July 31, 1982, after 25 years of Distinguished service. He was a Christian and a devoted member of Egypt Christian Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Henry County. He and Marilyn enjoyed traveling across the U.S. during their many years together. He loved life and loved spending time with his family and dear friends who will miss him.

Robert (Bob) Stivers, Jr. age 84 of Columbia, KY went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 6:20pmCT, at his home.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 2pmCT at Egypt Christian Church, 4855 Knifley Road, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Paul Patton and Bro. Steve Pescosolido officiating. Interment in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Honors will be provided by Kentucky State Police Honor Guard during visitation and at graveside service. Visitation will be at Egypt Christian Church after 4pmCT Tuesday, October 4, 2016 and after 7amCT Wednesday at Egypt Christian Church until the time of service.

Bob was born in Henry County, Kentucky on September 7, 1932. He was the oldest child of Paul and Lena Mae Edrington Stivers, Sr. He died Saturday, October 1, 2016, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 84 years, 24 days.

He was retired from the Kentucky State Police as Sgt. on July 31, 1982, after 25 years of Distinguished service. He was a Christian and a devoted member of Egypt Christian Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Henry County. He and Marilyn enjoyed traveling across the U.S. during their many years together. He loved life and loved spending time with his family and dear friends who will miss him.

He is survived by the following:
  • His wife of 25 years, Marilyn M. Stivers Columbia, KY

  • Son: Danny (Elizabeth) Stivers, Smithville, KY

  • Daughter: Deborah wife of the late Dwight Hardin, Versailles, KY

  • Brother: Donald (Ann) Stivers, London, KY

  • Sister: June (E.T.) Smith of New Castle, KY

  • Three grandchildren

  • Seven great grandchildren

  • Sister-in-law and husband: Linda and Donnie Grider, Columbia, KY

  • Special family members: Donna & Junior Feese of Columbia, KY

  • Special nieces: Judy Akers and Paula Yelinek

  • Three nephews

  • And a host of family members and friends
