John Stewart "Stu" Lyons age 82 years of Columbia, KY passed away at his home Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 5:06pmCT.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. Bill Scott the officiating clergy. The family requests visting after 11amCT, AM on Saturday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service.


Mr. John Steward (Stu) Lyons, 82, Adair Co., KY (1934-2016)


He was born in Salt Lick, KY on June 13, 1934, the son of the late John Newton and Anna Beatrice Staton Lyons. He died Tuesday, September 27, 2016, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 82 years, three months, and 14 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Henrietta Elizabeth Lyons on March 11, 2011

Survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Sonia Shane and her husband Bart of Baltimore, MD

  • One son: Jon Scott Lyons of Old Town, FL

  • One brother: Roger Lyons of Kissimmee, FL

  • Three sisters: Delma Perrine of Old Town, FL; Mary Lou Griffin of Orlando, FL; and Betty Balogh of Houston, TX

  • Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Mr. Lyons was retired from the aerospace industry in Florida and was a US Air Force veteran and made his home in Columbia, KY for several years.
