She was a native of Jamestown, KY, and a resident of the city at the time of her death in Russell Springs, KY. She was the daughter of the late Vertie Mae (Russell) and Alva Ray Pierce. Her husband, Herman Hadley survives.

Alva E. Hadley, 81, of Jamestown, KY passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016, at the Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral Services for Alva E. Hadley will be Thursday, September 29, 2016, 1pmCT, at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY with Bro. Jessie Jewell officiating. Friends may visit after 10:30amCT on Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jamestown City Cemetery, 201 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY.


Alva E. Hadley, 81, Russell County, KY (1935-2016)


Alva was born in Jamestown, Russell County, KY on March 3, 1935. She was a daughter of the late Vertie Mae (Russell) and Alva Ray Pierce. She died Monday, September 26, 2016, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 81 years, six months, and 23 days.

Alva is survived by:
  • Her husband: Herman Hadley of Jamestown, KY

  • Four sisters: Wanda Flatt and Evelyn Cape, both of Russell Springs, KY; and Helen Marcum and Geneva Pierce, both of Albany, KY

  • And a host of nieces and nephews.
Alva is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Connie Lee Hadley; one brother, Kenneth Pierce; and one sister, Lillian Burchett.
