LWC Swimming opens 2016-17 season with LWC Fall Frenzy

By Anthony Latessa

The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swim teams open their 2016-17 seasons as the Blue Raiders host the annual LWC Fall Frenzy Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Holloway Center Natatorium.

The Blue Raiders will be joined by Bethel (Tenn.), Campbellsville (Ky.), Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.), and Milligan (Tenn.).

Ronni Borders, who was the first Blue Raider swimmer to claim an individual national title, and Laura Stephenson, who were a part of the 200-yard medley relay team who finished fifth at the NAIA National Championships last year, return for the Blue Raider women's team.

Jonas Mueller, who finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke at the NAIA National Championships, and Jose Prado de Lima, who took fifth in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the NAIA National Championships, return to lead the Lindsey Wilson men's team.

Alicia Kemnitz returns for her seventh season as head coach for the men's and women's programs. Kemnitz was selected as an American Swimming Coaches Association Coach of Excellence recipient for a second-straight year.

Last season, both the men and women recorded the best season in school history as the men placed eighth at the NAIA National Championships and the women placed sixth.

During last year's Fall Frenzy, both the men's and women's teams took second place overall.

The LWC Fall Frenzy Invitational will be split into three sessions in the Holloway Center Natatorium. The first is at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, with the two remaining sessions on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CT.

The opening session warm-ups begin at 3 p.m. CT on Friday, followed by the timed final heats at 5 p.m. CT.
