Old Tebbs Bend Bridge is now home

Now it carries only Tebbs Bend Nature Area/Homeplace trail system foot traffic

George Kolbenschlag writes:
Ed. The bridge is there to stay. It is no longer judged to be safe and was moved there as part of the Tebbs Bend Nature Area/Homeplace trail system. The bridge was built in 1907 and replaced one that spanned the river at the same location beginning in 1863. The trail crosses the bridge, so it's been relegated to foot traffic. Let's hope it serves where it now sits at least another 110 years. --George Kolbenschlag

Taylor County's Traveling Bridge at waystop

2016-09-20 - by Toll Gate House at Green River, 723 Tebbs Bend Road, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
It's the slightest bit disconcerting to see a perfectly good old iron bridge spanning an open field, but that's the sight by the Tebb's Bend Tollhouse, which Linda spotted along a "shortcut" to see the new Tebb's Bend Bridge over Green River, now open to traffic. Someone can correct us, but it's our understanding that the bridge above is just at a waystop here, awaiting transport and a new mission spanning a point downstream within the Tebb's Bend Battlefield area. - Ed Waggener
