Mrs. Rose May Houser Parrott, Green County, KY (1931-2016)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church. She was a funeral director for over 50 years and co-owner of Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home. Rose was a medical technician, a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Society of Clinical Pathologist, past president in 1977 of the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky Women's Auxiliary, and 50 year pin recipient from the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Roscoe Houser and Annie Belle Boaz House and the widow of Walter Lee Parrott, Sr., her husband of over 46 years. She leaves nine direct living descendants.

Mrs. Rose May Houser Parrott, 85, of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill, Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Rose H. Parrott will be conducted at 1pmCT, Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery, Bro. Blake Jessie and Bro. Todd Young officiating. Visitation is requested from 12pmNoonCT, until 8pmCT, Saturday, Setember 24, 2016, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Sunday until time of the funeral service.

Mrs. Rose May Houser Parrott of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Roscoe Houser and Annie Belle Boaz Houser, was born on January 21, 1931 in Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill, Greensburg, Green County, Kentucky. She was 85 years, seven months, and 28 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church. She was a funeral director for over 50 years and co-owner of Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home. Rose was a medical technician, a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Society of Clinical Pathologist, past president in 1977 of the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky Women's Auxiliary, and 50 year pin recipient from the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky.

She united in marriage to Walter Lee Parrott, Sr. on October 12, 1957 who preceded her in death on September 21, 2004.

Survivors include:
  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Ann Lee and Mike Judd of Greensburg, KY; and Nancy and Greg Smith of Lawrenceburg, KY

  • A son and daughter-in-law: Little Walt and Deana Coffey Parrott of Greensburg, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Reyn Judd and his wife, Audrey of Bowling Green, KY; Nicole Smith of Lexington, KY; Leah Rose Judd of Greensburg, KY; Andrew Smith of North Carolina; Olivia Christine Parrott, and Gracie Ann Parrott both of Greensburg, KY

  • A sister-in-law: Joyce Parrott of Campbellsville, KY

  • Nieces and nephews: Linda Houk, Bobby Joe Simpson, Jane Alice Chappell, Martha Ann Smith, Freddie Buchanan, and Bill Buchanan

  • Special friends and long time caretakers: Jerry Morgan, Helen England, and Peggy Whitlow

  • And a host of other relatives

  • and many friends
