Alicia Gail May Thurmond, 31, Metcalfe Co., KY (1985-2016)

She was a native of Sylva, NC, and a resident of Edmonton, KY, at the time of her death. she was a daughter of the late James Clinton May and Deana Mae Freeman May, Edmonton, KY, who survives, and the wife of William David Thurmond III, who survives. She leaves three direct living descendants. Her final resting place will be in Briartown, NC.

Alicia Gail May Thurmond, age 31, of Edmonton, died Thursday, September 8, 2016, as a result of a car accident.

Funeral services will be Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 3pmET, at Briartown Baptist Church, in Nantahala, NC, with burial to follow in the Briartown Cemetery. Visitation will be at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 4pm-7pmCT, and on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Briartown Baptist Church in Briartown North Carolina, from 2pmET, until time of funeral services.

Born April 15, 1985 in Sylva, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late James Clinton May and Deana Mae Freeman May, Edmonton, KY, who survives, and the wife of William David Thurmond III, who survives. She died Thursday, September 8, 2016, at the age of 31 years, four months, and 24 days.

She worked at Shuffets Adult Day Care in Edmonton and was a christian.

Survivors in addition to her husband and mother, include:
  • One daughter: Kyly Angela Thurmond, Edmonton, KY

  • Two sons: Taylor Scott and Tristan Layne Thurmond, Edmonton, KY

  • Two brothers: James Daniel May, Edmonton, KY; and Clinton David (Laura) May, Jacksonville, NC

  • And several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death, besides her father, by her grandmothers Rebekah May and Betty Freeman.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the childrens education fund.
