By George Kolbenschlag The Kentucky Department of Agriculture's Mobile Science Activities Center which demonstrates the importance of agriculture in our lives will be a key player in Saturday's (September 10) Homeplace on Green River Fall Heritage Festival. The 44-foot trailer includes 10 iPad equipped interactive stations for investigating the agriculture and environmental aspects of our lives. The exhibit also offers hands-on activities that introduce us to the relationship between raw agricultural products and the processed products we use in our everyday lives. While designed primarily for grade school students, the exhibits and activities should interest all ages. The mobile science center is popular throughout the state and Homeplace is pleased to be able to offer this opportunity as part of its festival. The Center will be at the farm all day, from the opening of the festival at 9:00 CT/10:00 ET and it closes at 4:00 CT/5:00 ET. This year's fall festival promises to be the largest and most diverse of Homeplace Festivals to date with new activities, events and rides, including mule and tractor wagon rides, lots of animals to see and pet, games for children, colonial reenactors, Allegiant the Bald Eagle and her cohorts, pony rides, a large hay maze, good food, arts and crafts sales and live music all day. There is a $10 per car entry fee that includes free admission to all of the rides and activities except for food and arts/crafts purchases. Homeplace is located at 5807 New Columbia Road (Kentucky highway 55), Campbellsville between Columbia and Campbellsville. The farm was first settled in 1803 and the original homestead still stands and is being restored along with several historic out buildings. It is a joint project of Adair, Green and Taylor counties.
