Frances & Nelson Branham 70th anniversary today, 17 Aug 2016 There's was a most unusual wedding chapel, a familiar place in Columbia, KY Click on headline for complete story with photo By Pat Coomer On August 17, 1946, Frances Hodges and Nelson Branham traveled to the home of Rev. Norman Antle where they were scheduled to be married. Never mind that the father of Frances, Rev. M. B. Hodges, could have married the couple. Upon arrival, the minister had not yet arrived home so they departed and met Rev. Antle as he was on the road returning to his house. Flagging him down, they expressed to Rev. Antle that they were supposed to be in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry by the evening show, time was "a-wastin"! Their attendants, Lucy Gilpin Breeding, Dale Branham, and Phillip Breeding, were in the car with the couple. The guys traveled with them to Nashville. Rev. Antle said, "Well, I can marry you right here on the side of the road" and he did. This marriage, on Highway East 80 at the rock quarry, just outside of Columbia, has held true for seventy years. Nelson and Frances have been blessed with two children, son Daryl and wife Jane Whitney and daughter Pat and husband Ron Coomer. They have one grandson, Kyle Coomer and wife Lara Ising. Congratulations to Nelson and Frances on an amazing milestone of 70 years of marriage! This story was posted on 2016-08-17 04:59:43
