James Bruce Gossage, 80, of Russell Springs, died Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY.

Visitation will be after 5pmCT Friday, August 12. Funeral service for James Bruce Gossage will be 10amCT, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 North Main St, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Charles Edwards and Bro. Danny Withers officiating, and Special Music by Ronnie & Sheila McGaha. Interment in the Rexroat Cemetery

He was born October 5, 1935 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Johnnie & Flonzie McKinley Gossage. He died Tuesday, August 9, 2016, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and four days.


He was a carpenter and a member of Royville Friendship Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hughston Gossage and a sister, Ida Zinman.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Lavada Gossage, Russell Springs

  • Four children: Jan (Victor) Shepherd, Indianapolis, IN; Pam (Bob) Searing, Burlington, Ky; Penny (Danny) Withers, Russell Springs; Jimmy (Sherry) Gossage, Russell Springs
  • Nine grandchildren

  • Fifteen great grandchildren

  • Five sisters: Norman Foster, Shelbyville, IN; Joy Foley, Franklin; Tennie Coffey, Phoenix, Arizona; Betty Stephens, Russell Springs; Jenny Popplewell, Cadiz;

  • Three brothers: Keith Gossage, Franklin, IN; Kermith Gossage, Florida; Roger Gossage, Russell Springs
