He died Friday, August 5, 2016, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 79 years, four months, and 24 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, JoNell Holt Roy; a daughter, Rita McFarland; a sister, Nelpha Scales; and a brother, Arlis Roy.
