Merle J. Decker, 100 years, Jabez, KY (1915-2016)

She was a native of Jabez, KY. She was the member of a large, respected South Central Kentucky. Her death leaves one surviving sibling of 16 born to the late Marcillus and Rebecca Stacy Johnson. She was the widow of the late Ernest Decker. She leaves 10 direct living descendants. Her final resting place will be in the family cemetery in the community where she was born.

Graveside service for Merle J. Decker will be 11amCT , Friday, August 5, 2016, at the Stacy Cemetery in Jabez, KY, with family members speaking.


Merle J. Decker, daughter of the late Marcillus and Rebecca Stacy Johnson, was born in the Jabez, KY, community, August 9, 1915, and departed this life Tuesday, August 2, 2016, making her 100 years, 11 months, and 21 days of age.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Decker; two daughters, Barbara Decker and Anna Coomer & Anna's husband, "Tickie"; by 15 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by:
  • A sister: Grace Jennings, Berea, KY

  • Two granddaughters: Margaret (Mike) Williams, Berea, KY; and Robin (Rick) Neikirk, Marrowbone, KY

  • Five great grandchildren

  • Five great great grandchildren
