Velma Abell Tungate, Taylor County, KY (1923-2016)

She professed faith in Christ and attended the Feathersburg Church of God. She was anative of Taylor County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Lonzie Abell & Estella Ferrill Abell and thewidow of Jesse Earl Tungate, her husband of over 67 years. She leaves 32 direct living descendants.

There will be a funeral service for Velma Abell Tungate at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Bro. Jessie Rogers and Bro. Raymond Atwood Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old U.S. 68, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Friday, July 22, 2016 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.



Velma Abell Tungate, Taylor County, KY (1923-2016)


Velma Abell Tungate was born October 6, 1923, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Lonzie Abell and Estella Ferrill Abell. She died at Thursday, July 21, 2016 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 92 years, nine months, and 15 days.

She professed faith in Christ and attended the Feathersburg Church of God. She united in marriage to Jesse Earl Tungate January 3, 1940. He preceded her in death December 24, 2007.

She is survived by:
  • Three daughters: Carole Ann Perkins and husband, Bro. Carol Perkins of Campbellsville, KY; Norma Woods and husband, Edgar of Green Castle, IN; and Wanda Wright of Mt. Washington, KY

  • One son-in-law: Ray Parker, Sr. of Columbia, KY

  • Six grandchildren

  • Twelve great-grandchildren

  • Eleven great-great grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • and many other relatives and friends
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Parker; one son-in-law, Jimmy Wright; one grandson, Raymond Glenn Parker Jr.; one great grandchild; one great-great grandchild; two brothers and two sisters: Wesley Abell, Willard Abell, Kathleen Tungate and Wilma Ashoff.
