Adair County Fiscal Court - 12 Jul 2016 - Report I - GRAS

Program designed to quickly resolve a temporary problem with adoptions. Watch ColumbiaMagazine.com and local media for more details as announced by Green River Animal Shelter Director Kim Tucker.

By Ed Waggener

The Adair County Fiscal Court gave permission to Green River Animal Shelter to do a Donation Drive to help quickly reduce the number of dogs at the shelter.

The action came last night in the regular 12 Jul 2016 meeting, on a unanimous vote, after receiving a letter from Kim Tucker, Director of the Shelter about the temporary situation, "I currently have 65 dogs. Adoptions have been extremely slow the last two months. I would like to have a donation drive . . . to help with getting our fur babies into loving homes."

The proposal was passed on a motion by Magistrate Billy Dean Coffey (District 5), with a second by Magistrate Greg Caldwell (District 6) with Magistrates Harold Burton (1), Daryl Flatt (2), Sammy Baker (3), Perry Reeder (4), and Terry Hadley, and CJE Michael Lee Stephens joining in the affirmation. The Donation Drive, as will be announced by the director, would let residents bring a donation of supplies, which can be food, litter, cleaning supplies - whatever they can afford, and, she wrote, in return get their best friend.
