Adair County School Supt. Alan Reed, left, will be the principal speaker today, Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon on the campus of Lindsey Wilson College, in the Cranmer Dining Center, 430 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY. The public is invited.

He will be bringing the community up to date today on major changes taking place in the Adair County School system as the district is readying the campus for the start of school in less than one month.

"You know," he said, "there is a level of support in the community for our Adair County School System that we've never seen before. The excitement permeates the student body and the faculty. Students tell us they can't wait to get back to school. That bodes well for the future of Adair County." At the luncheon Mr. Reed will unveil more of the progress being made on the innovative Community Learning Center and what it will offer, as well as the new outdoor classroom and walkability of the campus, and new programs and ideas for our schools.

Topics include:
  • Employee satisfaction in the district
  • Graduation rates - trends in Adair County today.
  • College and Career Readiness and what it means to students and to the Adair County Economy
  • Indian University, traditional college and helping students lower the cost of higher education with dual credit opportunities.
  • Student voice and leadership opportunities
  • The new Adair County Community Learning & Technology Center offering High School courses by day and Vocational Training for Adults in the evenings. A capsule of its function, layout, and design sketches
  • A glimpse at the Aerospace Academy
At the close, Supt. Reed will take questions and listen to comments as time allows.

"I'll be talking about the transformation in campus appearance. The physical and aesthetic changes. That's important, but I'll be stressingthat it's what's inside those buildings - the students, the teachers, and the the tools we provide them that's the most important." The Corporate Sponsor for July is Adair County W.A.T.C.H. (Working Actively Toward Community Health) Coalition The Coalition works to improve the health of Adair County residents by encouraging healthy lifestyles.
