Mary Jo West McCubbins, Green County, KY (1932-2016)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany where she was a member of the Women of the Living Word Bible Study Group. She was retired from the First National Bank-currently PNC Bank after 40 years of service. She was also employed with Central Music and Brentley Services. Mrs. McCubbins loved, raised, trained, and showed American Saddle Breed Horses, and was also a member of the Silver Sneakers from the Floyd County YMCA group. Her husband, Ronnie G. "Ron" McCubbins, formerly of Green County, KY, survives. She leaves 10 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Mary Jo West McCubbins, 84, of New Albany, Indiana, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana.

There will be graveside services for Mrs. Mary Jo West McCubbins held at 11amCT, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Taylors Chapel Cemetery in Green County, KY with Bro. Todd Young officiating. Visitation is requested after 9amCT, Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, until time to leave for the graveside service.


Pallbearers: Charles Smith, Alex M. Woodworth, Kenneth J. Woodworth, Rodney Osborne, and Merle McGruder.

Mary Jo West McCubbins, Green County, KY (1932-2016)

Mrs. Mary Jo West McCubbins of New Albany, Indiana, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, daughter of Margarette Gregory of South Carolina and the late William Gregory, was born on March 2, 1932 and departed this life on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Floyd Memorial Hospital in Indiana. She was 84 years, four months, and two days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany where she was a member of the Women of the Living Word Bible Study Group. She was retired from the First National Bank-currently PNC Bank after 40 years of service. She was also employed with Central Music and Brentley Services. Mrs. McCubbins loved, raised, trained, and showed American Saddle Breed Horses, and was also a member of the Silver Sneakers from the Floyd County YMCA group.

She is survived by her husband: Ronnie G. "Ron" McCubbins of New Albany, formerly of Green County, having united in marriage on December 16, 2006.

Other survivors include:
  • Two sons and a daughter-in-law: Kenneth J. and Dee Woodworth of Arkansas, and Alex M. Woodworth of Murray, KY

  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Mariechen Woodworth McGruder and Merle McGruder of Tennessee, and Kari Lynn and Rodney Osborne of Upton, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Dr. Brenna M. Rawson, Brittany McGruder both of Texas; Michael E. Woodworth of Arkansas; Raven H. Gautreau of Louisiana; Colton D. Hursey, Justin T. Osborne, and Alex M. W Woodworth, Jr., all of Kentucky

  • A great-grandchild: Andrea M. Rawson of Texas

  • A sister: Melinda G. Souther of South Carolina

  • Special friends: Charles and Jo Smith of Louisville, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. McCubbins was also preceded in death by a grandson: Kenneth J. Woodworth, Jr.; a brother: William L. Gregory; the fathers of her children: H.J. Woodworth, Jacob Taylor "J.T." Smith, and Julian Edward West.
