Howard (Junior) Walker, Jr., 87, Sparksville, Adair Co. KY

He was a member of a highly respected southern Adair County KY family, a veteran of the Korean War and was a widely known livestock trader dealing in horses, mules and donkeys throughout Kentucky and surrounding states. He operated a welding shop in Sparksville, KY for many years and was a proud, lifelong Democrat.

Howard "Junior" Walker, Jr. passed away suddenly Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 6:01pmCT at the TJ Heath Columbia Emergency Room in Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after 4pmCT on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Clergy officiating will be Bro. Darrell Landis and Bro. Lonny Karnes. Interment will be in the Sparksville Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was born June 2, 1929 in Sparksville, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Howard and Mamie Wilson Walker. He died Saturday, July 2, 2016, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 87 years, one month.

he was preceded in death by one brother Charlie Walker.

He is survived by
  • His wife: Shirley Page Walker of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Cindy Perry and husband Donnie of Columbia, KY

  • One grandson: John Walker Perry of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Louise Gowen of Bowling Green, KY

  • Also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
Junior was of the Baptist faith, a veteran of the Korean War and was a widely known livestock trader dealing in horses, mules and donkeys throughout Kentucky and surrounding states, he operated a welding shop in Sparksville, KY for many years and was a proud lifelong Democrat.
