ADAIR COUNTY PRIMARY CENTER (10:39amCT, Mon 27 Jun 2016) Today we begin the final week of Camp Rocket for this summer.

We have had very steady attendance thanks in large part to the great teaching staff we have this year.

Lou Ann Coomer, Christina Ferguson, Lisa Hayes, Jennifer Perkins, Pam Phipps and Samantha Rich have done an outstanding job keeping students engaged in math, reading, science and social studies.

This is no easy feat during the summer months, but these teachers have outdone themselves planning and implementing lessons and activities that the students are seriously enjoying. Not to mention they are continuing to learn during a time when the average student can lose up to 2 months worth of work from the previous year.

Summer Learning loss can create a gap of up to 2 to 5 years by the time students reach high school.

Through the past 3 weeks Camp Rocket participants have worked at home and at school on the Lexia Core 5 reading program a collective 78 hours and 10 minutes and gained 714 skills.

In the IXL program they have answered 8895 questions in math and progressed in 221 skills.

Also in IXL they have answered 649 questions in Language Arts and progressed in 22 skills.

Students have read a collective total of 311 books and passed 294 Accelerated Reading tests with at least an 85% accuracy.

This is on top of the great hands-on activities and lessons our students have been exposed to during Camp Rocket; plus we've had a great time doing it!
