Donald Ray Wilson, Casey Co., KY (1938-2016)

He was a Retired Supervisor for the Gas Department with the City of Liberty, KY, a position he held for 27 Years. He was the Chief of the Liberty Fire Department for 55 years, a former member of the Liberty Casey County Rescue Squad, Liberty City Council and Glenwood Cemetery Board. He was also a former employee of M & W Service Station and Bartle Funeral Home. He was past master of Craftsman Lodge 722 F&AM, and a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church.

Donald Ray Wilson, age 77, of Liberty, KY passed away on Wednesday June 15, 2016 at Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral Services will be held 1pmCT/2pmET, Saturday June 18, 2016 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY 49, Liberty, KY. Rev. Jim Powell and Rev. Eric Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 17, 2016, after 4pmCT/5pmET at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel and after 7amCT/8amET, Saturday June 18, 2016 at the funeral home.



Donald Ray Wilson, Casey Co., KY (1938-2016)


He was born in Liberty, Casey County, KY on December 3, 1938. He was the son of the late Elmer S. and Lula True Wilson. He died Wednesday, June 15, 2016, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 77 years, six months, and 12 days.

He was the widower of Barbara Terry Wilson.

He was a Retired Supervisor for the Gas Department with the City of Liberty, KY, a position he held for 27 Years. He was the Chief of the Liberty Fire Department for 55 years, a former member of the Liberty Casey County Rescue Squad, Liberty City Council and Glenwood Cemetery Board. He was also a former employee of M & W Service Station and Bartle Funeral Home. He was past master of Craftsman Lodge 722 F&AM, and a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church.

Survivors include:
  • One Daughter: Tammy Sue Wilson of Liberty, KY

  • Two brothers: Glen and (Alice) Wilson of Liberty, KY; and Greg and (Connie) Wilson of Berea, KY

  • One sister: Patty and (Ott) Beeler of Hustonville, KY

  • Eleven nieces and nephews

  • Twenty one great nieces and nephews

  • and four great great nieces and nephews
Preceding him death besides his parents and spouse are one son, Timothy Don Wilson; and one sister and brother in law: Carol and (Calvert) Davis.
