KSP Post 15 investigating Washington County murder Detectives from Columbia Post 15 seek any information on murder. 51 year old Bardstown man found, still alive, with a single gunshot wound to the head, in a vehicle off Bloomfield Road, Springfield, KY. Victim flown to UL Hospital, where he died shortly after. Click on headline for complete story By TFC Billy Gregory, Public Information Officer Kentucky State Police 15, Columbia, KY SPRINGFIELD, Ky. (JUNE 15, 2016) - Post 15 Detectives are currently investigating the shooting death of 51-year-old Yul A. Rayford, of Bardstown KY. Post 15 dispatch was contacted by the Washington County Sheriff's department on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at approximately 10amCT regarding the discovery of an unknown male, lying inside a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. Rayford was found, still alive, by a landowner just off of Bloomfield Road (KY 55), 1.5 miles north of Springfield. He was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital where he died at 10:20 pmET. Rayford was last seen by a family member at his home in Bardstown around 7amET. An autopsy was performed today at the State Medical Examiner's office and the preliminary autopsy report indicates that Rayford died from a single gunshot wound to the head. No weapon was recovered at the scene. Detective Kevin Roberts is investigating.
