Lillie Wilson Withers, 88, Russell Co., KY (1928-2016)

She was a member of New Friendship United Baptist Church and her final resting place will be in the New Friendship Cemetery. She was a former employee of Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY. She was born in Casey County, KY and was a resident of Russell County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Melvin & May Lee Wilson and the widow of Garnett "Red" Withers. She leaves 17 direct living descendants.

Lillie Withers, 88, of Russell Springs, KY, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at her home.

Funeral service for Lillie Withers will be 11amCT, Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, with Rev. Hugh Withers officiating. Visitation after 5pmCT, Monday. Interment will be in the New Friendship Cemetery.


Lillie Wilson Withers, 88, Russell Co., KY (1928-2016)


She was born February 7, 1928 in Casey County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Melvin & May Lee Wilson. She died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at her home in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 88 years, four months, and four days. She was a former cook at Fair Oaks Nursing Home and a member of New Friendship United Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett "Red" Withers; a daughter, Norma Lee Popplewell; and a son, Berman Dale Withers. Survivors include the following:
  • Two sons: Jim Withers, Russell Springs, KY; and Rodney Withers, Russell Springs, KY

  • A daughter-in-law: Christy Withers, Somerset, KY

  • Eight grandchildren

  • Seven great grandchildren

  • Two brothers: Ray Lee Wilson, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Jim Wilson, Liberty, KY
