Curtis R. Crew, Casey County, KY (1934-2016)

He was a former factory worker and a member of the Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church. He was a former sawmill worker for Wolford and Wethington and also a farmer. He enjoyed gardening. He was a native of Casey County, KY. He was the widower of Ida Joyce Cain Crew, his wife of over 51 years. He leaves six direct living descendants.

Curtis R. Crew, age 82, of Cain Road in Liberty, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016, in the same room at UK Hospital that his wife, Ida Joyce Cain Crew, died in on May 29, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Fair Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the funeral home.

Born February 16, 1934, in Casey County, KY, he was a son of the late Lewis Virgil and Inez Ragle Crew. He died Saturday, May 28, 2016, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 82 years, three months, and 12 days.

Curtis was a former factory worker and a member of the Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church. He was a former sawmill worker for Wolford and Wethington and also a farmer. He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include:
  • His son: Eddie Crew of Liberty, KY

  • One daughter: Jennifer Overstreet of Liberty, KY

  • Brother: Arvin Crew of Liberty, KY

  • Sister: Fredia McCormick of Liberty, KY

  • Grandchildren: Trent, Abi, Jack, and Vinny
He was preceded in death by his wife, whom he married on July 23, 1962, Ida Joyce Cain Crew; daughter, Carol Ann Crew; brothers, Lloyd, Carlos, John, Beachel, and Eldie Crew; and sister, Gail Andrews.
