Election May 2016: Absentee vote low; Clerk projects 17% vote

By Ed Waggener

Adair County Clerk Lisa Greer thinks that even the low project 2016 primary election by Secretary of State Allyson Grimes - 20% - will be high for today's Adair Primary. "I am going to guess 17% for Adair County," she said. She said she is basing that on reports from the 16 polls today, which report low activity and no incidences or problems, "Except boredom. They all say it's been terribly boring." And she's basing it on absentee turnout. At the close of the day yesterday, a total of 75 had voted on the absentee voting machine in the clerk's office and only 143 of the 153 paper absentee ballots have been returned as of 3:30pmCT, today, Tuesday, May17, 2016, for a 228.

The actual tabulation will be announced shortly after the polls close at 6pmCT.
