Preston Lee York, 85, Cumberland Co., KY (1930-2016)

He was a lifetime farmer and the patriarch of a large, respected family. He was a native of Cumberland County, KY, a resident of the county at the time of his death in Taylor County, KY, and will be laid to rest at McClister Cemetery in Adair County, KY, where so many of his family reside. He was the son of the late Andy Lee and Lula Vick Morrison York.

Preston Lee York age 85 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 11amCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in the McClister Cemetery, 4138 Fairplay Road, Fairplay, Adair County, KY. The family requests visitation on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 4pm until 9pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.



Preston Lee York, 85, Cumberland Co., KY (1930-2016)


Preston was born on October 15, 1930 in Cumberland County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Andy Lee and Lula Vick Morrison York. He died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 85 years, six months, and 25 days.

He was a lifetime farmer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Grider York; two sisters, Willie Mae Chapman and Betty Sue Foley; and two brothers, Herbert York and Ray York. Survivors include:
  • Three daughters: Ruby Burton and her husband Albert of Breeding, KY; Bernice Trimble of Danville, KY; and Carol Brown of Breeding, KY

  • Four sons: Dallas Richard "Poochie" York and his wife Shirley of Columbia, KY; Marvin Wayne York and his wife Kathy and Roger Lee "Doc" York and his wife Tammy all of Campbellsville, KY; and James Randall York and his fiance' Linda Grissom of Edmonton, KY

  • One sister: Elizabeth "Lizzie" Burton of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Jessie "Buck" York of Columbia, KY

  • Fifteen grandchildren

  • Several great grandchildren

  • Several great great grandchildren

  • And host of other relatives and friends
