Postal Carriers in Columbia and Adair County will again help Stamp Out Hunger! in Adair County. Now in its 24th year, the Stamp Out Hunger! effort is the nation's largest single-day food drive. Mail carriers in Columbia and Adair County collect between three and four thousand pounds of food annually on this day. The food stays here in Adair County to help those in need. To help Stamp Out Hunger! in Adair County this year, simply leave a sturdy bag containing nonperishable foods, like canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal, next to your mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery on Saturday May 14, 2016. Food items should be in non-breakable containers such as boxes and cans. Mail carriers will pick up the donations and deliver them to the local food pantry. Contributions may also be dropped off at the Columbia Post Office located at 800 Burkesville Street in Columbia any time during the week during normal business hours. For more information about the annual Stamp Out Hunger! effort in Adair County and around the nation, ask your mail carrier or contact the local post office. We invite you to join in America's great day of giving and help in this fight to end hunger. This story was posted on 2016-05-09 13:46:23
