CJE Stephens: We're moving ahead with alcoholic beverage sales

CJE says County will continue with plans to begin alcohol sales on schedule

Adair County Judge Executive Mike Stephens dismissed the petition filed today in Adair Circuit Court seeking to void the March 22, 2016 Wet-Dry election. "Lawyer talk. It's just lawyer talk."

Judge Stephens said that the election day was fully vetted by the County Attorney, the County Board of Elections, the Alcoholic Beverage Commission, and the State Board of Elections. "It's been certified by the State Board of Elections and the ABC," he said. "The Republican Caucus was a party function, not an election," he added.



He said that all involved in setting the election day were well aware of
Judge Stephens said that the county will move ahead with appropriate ordinances, with a target day of May 22, 2016 to start accepting malt liquor applications. He said plans to have ordinances ready for the court to approve shortly.
