Columbia PD report man with handgun taken into custody

When officers arrived male had fired a round an fled into wooded area and hid in drainage tile under East Frazier Avenue. After hour stand-off, officers were able to take him into custody without incident.

Columbia Police Chief Jason Cross reports that at around 8:38amCT, Thursday, April 21, 2016, Columbia police received a call of a possibly suicidal male with a handgun at a residence near Tutt Street.



Upon officers arrival the male subject had fired a round and fled into a wooded area between Tutt Steet and East Frazier.

At that time an all call was made for members of the Columbia police department to respond to that area.

The male was located in a drainage tile underneath East Frazier Avenue and after about an hour standoff officers were able to take the subject into custody without incident.
