Eighth graders read their works in Poetry Cafe

By Shamarie Harper

It was a great day to be a 8th grader at Adair County Middle School.

Mrs. Cindy Walker’s English class had a wonderful culminating activity created by her student teacher Sydney Fleurdelys.

Their unit has been over poetry and students had to write a poem that was about their everyday life with the instruction for the verse to have meaning.

Then today, Miss Fleurdelys created a Poetry Cafe for the students to read their poetry in out loud, just as poets do everywhere.

The Cafe was amazing as was the students' works.

The ambiance was special with the lighting and feel of the room. You felt like you were in New York City at a true Poetry Cafe.

There was food and drinks that was almost as good at the poetry.

Aside to the teacher: Way to go Miss Fleurdelys! Talk about bringing ideas together for students, your creativity and imagination will be missed as you move to your next assignment. -Shamarie
