Workforce Board asking employers' help on technical training Kentucky employers asked to help get technical credentials on the right track with education needs; KWIB committee studying high school tech education, industry alignment By Melissa Anguilar FRANKFORT, Ky. (Thu 17 Mar 2016) -- The Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board's (KWIB) Business and Education Alignment Committee is encouraging employers to complete a new online survey about industry certifications which are important to them when searching for new employees or promoting employees from within. Employers can go to Survey to fill out the survey by April 1. The survey feedback will be used to align industry certifications available in career and technical education in Kentucky high schools with employer needs to fill skill gaps in Kentucky. The committee plans to develop a valid industry-recognized certification list for Kentucky high school students to use in career planning. "Kentucky is working to enhance our high school education system to align with real hiring opportunities directed by Kentucky's employers. Each year, high school students have the opportunity to enroll in career and technical education and we want to ensure that students graduate with the credentials and skills necessary to either go to work or go on to postsecondary education," said Melissa Aguilar, executive director of KWIB, an agency in the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.
