Former Blue Raider signs minor league with Colorado Rockies Mitchell Osnowitz By Charles Balcom COLUMBIA, KY - Former Lindsey Wilson baseball student-athlete Mitchell Osnowitz recently signed a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies. Osnowitz was the subject of a recent Purple Row article, the SB Nation affiliate responsible for covering the Colorado Rockies organization. In the feature, Osnowitz describes his journey after his time as a Blue Raider, transitioning from a position player and hitter into a role as a pitcher. You can read the article here, here During his two seasons at Lindsey Wilson, Osnowitz started 117 out of 118 games, maintaining a .344 batting average with 77 RBIs and 18 home runs as a position player. He earned NAIA Second Team All-American honors his senior season, becoming the first Blue Raider NAIA team selection in over a decade. While Osnowitz played primarily as an infielder, the right hander also made seven pitching appearances during his Lindsey Wilson career, tossing nine and 1/3 innings with 10 strikeouts and a perfect 2-0 record. Following his playing days at Lindsey Wilson, Osnowitz signed a free agent contract with the Gulf Coast League Braves, a minor-league affiliate of the Atlanta Braves based in Orlando, Florida. He made 36 mound appearances for the Braves, all in relief, pitching at the rookie and low-A ball levels. Osnowitz finished with a 2-2 record in 50 and 1/3 innings, with a 5.72 earned run average while averaging 8.8 strikeouts per nine innings in his two seasons in the Gulf Coast League.
