KSP adds four new CVE Officers

FRANKFORT, KY - Four new officers joined the ranks of the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Division on February 19, 2016 after graduating from 22 weeks of basic training at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond.

They are:


  • Michael A. Flanigan, a LaGrange resident, was commissioned as a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer I and assigned to CVE Region 3 in Georgetown. A 2011 graduate of South Oldham High School, he is the son of Kim Flanigan of Louisville and Karen Flanigan of PeeWee Valley, KY

  • Jerrod T. Foley, a Richmond resident, was commissioned as a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer I and assigned to CVE Region 5 in Morehead. A 2010 graduate of Williamsburg Independent High School, he is the son of Jim and Leanell Foley of Williamsburg, KY

  • Tyler K. Lynch, a Cecilia resident, was commissioned as a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer I and assigned to CVE Region 2 in Louisville. A 2006 graduate of Central Hardin High School, he is the son of Joseph and Brenda Lynch of Big Spring, KY

  • George T. Pointer, a Hanson resident, was commissioned as a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer I and assigned to CVE Region 1 in Henderson. A 1995 graduate of Muhlenberg North High School, he is the son of the late Richard and Cathy Pointer of Bremen, KY
The 888 hours of training, which is mandatory for Kentucky law enforcement officers to comply with the state’s Peace Officer Professional Standards Act of 1998, included instruction in areas such as homeland security, law offenses and procedures, vehicle operations, firearms, investigations, first aid/CPR, patrol procedures, orientation for new law enforcement families and mechanics of arrest, restraint and control.
