Adair Fiscal Court, 08 Mar 2016 Meeting: Road paving

Smoother driving in store for almost 7 miles in Adair County: Bryce Bailey presents rural secondary road section to be resurfaced, reaffirms Gov. Bevin's recent announcement that counties will get flex, discretionary funds this year, after all.

Four KY Rural Secondary Roads will be at least partially repaved during 2016. They are Knifley Road, Pelham Branch Road, Eunice-Pellyton Road, and Sano Road, totaling 6.923 miles, at a total cost of $631, 366.

The program was presented to the Adair Fiscal Court last night, Tue 8 Mar 2016 by Bryce Bailey, from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 8, Somerset KY, and was unanimously approved by the court.

Details on the work to approved last night:


  • KY 551/Knifley Road: $361,739 cost. 3.880 miles of asphalt resurfacing. from MP 1.120, David Butler Road, to MP 5, Existing Joint South of West Egypt Road.

  • KY 767/Pelham Branch Road.. $86,177 cost. 1.004 miles asphalt resurfacing. from MP .729 KY 55 to MP 1.793, South of Russell Creek Bridge.
  • KY 206-Eunice-Pellyton Road $83,896 cost. .0882 miles asphalt resurfacing. From MP 12.592 Stonecypher Road to MP 13.474 south of Barnett Creek Bridge

  • KY 1729-Sano Road. Cost $99,057. 1.157 miles asphalt resurfacing. From MP 0.000 KY 80 to MP 1.157 Wheat Road.
Bailey also announced that Adair County will receive $256,232.00 in Flex Funds for the year. Those funds are divvied up by the Magistrates who select projects in their districts. The selections are subject to ranking by District 8 and have to have State Approval.
