By Charles Balcom COLUMBIA, KY -- The seventh-ranked Lindsey Wilson baseball team defeated Judson (IL) 12-3 at Egnew Park on Monday evening. The Blue Raiders (16-6) overcame an early 3-1 deficit with two runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the fifth to take an 8-3 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, Ryan Harper and Caleb Ratzman both recorded RBI singles to tie the game at 3-3. After the Eagles (9-12), who are receiving the votes in the national poll, were held scoreless in the top of the fifth, the Blue Raiders sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs. Four of the runs were unearned after an error by a Judson fielder prolonged the inning. Lindsey Wilson was also the beneficiary of a wild pitch and a hit by pitch. After reaching on a leadoff double, Aaron Ashton later scored the first run of the inning on a wild pitch. Jan Carlos Ortiz drove in the second run of the inning with a sacrifice fly that scored Jacob Roberts. The third run was scored when Edgar Lebron was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Austin Attwell. Brandon Munoz knocked in the fourth and fifth runs of the inning with a single that scored Harper and Ratzman. Starting pitcher Justin Zielinski surrendered one run in the top of the second followed by two more in the top of third inning. He then settled in and pitched scoreless fourth and fifth frames while holding the Eagles to one additional hit. Brandon Reynolds, Sam Ross, and James Doubet came in from the bullpen to combine for four shut-out innings while allowing two hits. Lindsey Wilson tacked on three runs in the seventh and one run in the eighth to make the score 12-3. Ashton drove in the first run of the seventh with a sacrifice fly that scored Harper. Miguel Reyes drove in the final two runs of the seventh on a double down the right-field line. Lebron and Munoz scored on the play to make the score 11-3. Ortiz scored the final run of the night on an on RBI groundout by Ray Gonzalez in the eighth. Zielinski improved to 2-1 on the season with the win, while Judson's Alec Galik suffered the loss allowing three runs on one hit, while retiring just one batter in a relief appearance.
