Roberta Atwood, 88, Casey County, KY (1927-2016)

She was a member of the Green River Valley Separate Baptist Church. She formerly worked at the Village Restaurant and Liberty Sportswear. She was born the daughter of the late Luther and Maud Ella Allen Witt in Casey County, KY, and was a resident of Brown County, Ohio at the time of her death. She was the widow of the late Lucian Eldridge Atwood. She leaves 20 direct living descendants to carry on her legacy.

Roberta Atwood, age 88, of Ripley, Ohio, formerly of Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at the Ohio Valley Manor in Ripley, Ohio.

Funeral Services will be held 12pmCT/1pmET, Sunday February 28, 2016 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY Hwy 49, Liberty, KY. Bro. Casey Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Green River Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 5pmCT/6pmET, Saturday February 27, 2016 Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.



Roberta Atwood, 88, Casey County, KY (1927-2016)


She was born in Casey Co., KY on June 8, 1927. She was the daughter the late Luther and Maud Ella Allen Witt. She died Wednesday, February 24, 2016, in Ripley, Brown County, Ohioio, a the age of 88 years, eight months, and 16 days. Roberta was united in marriage to Lucian Eldridge Atwood on July 15, 1944. Roberta was a former employee of The Village Restaurant and Liberty Sportswear and a member of Green River Valley Separate Baptist Church.

Survivors include:
  • One daughter: Linda Sue and (Herman Dewayne) Atwood of Norwood, Ohioio

  • Son in law: Dale Herren of Williamsburg, Ohio

  • Five grandchildren: Jeff, Mark and Corey Herren, Lisa Dodds and Beverly Hacker

  • Twelve great grandchildren

  • Two great great grandchildren

  • One sister: Edith Taylor of Illinois

  • One brother: Wallace Witt of Somerset, KY
Preceding her in death were her spouse: Lucian Eldridge Atwood who passed away on November 5, 1991; one daughter, Betty Jean Herren; one grandchild, Paula Atwood Sluder; Three sisters, Opal Helm, Lela and Mary Witt; and four brothers: Paul, Howard and James Witt and Luther Witt Jr.
